Central Europe, and its length can reach up to 9 cm. Lives up to 8 years and is distinguished easily from the dark (brown or black) color, usually slow to move and bear claws in front, while the texture is very smooth and skliri.Ta females lay their eggs inside rotten wood, from which the larvae feed. Bearing pectinate hairs on edges and pass through many stages of development by 4-6 years (long time for an insect) to enter the cocoon. Cocoons remain in soil for 3 months and then come the adult to play.

The adults live from about May to September and during this time feeding on nectar and juice tree, while the males engage in fights among themselves for females using their claws. The beetles are clumsy flying at night, making a heavy buzz, while the main mode of defense is to remain as dead properties.

Unfortunately the species currently threatened with extinction due to the removal of dead trees and wood from the forests. In Germany, the beetle is in very critical condition, so I decided to give him the title "Insect of the Year 2012", trying to sensitize the world to protect it.
